About Advising

Elmhurst College regards academic advising as an important part of a faculty member's responsibility and your Elmhurst Experience. The academic advising program offers you the opportunity to work closely with a faculty or professional advisor to plan a coherent educational program appropriate for your interests and goals.

You may meet with your advisor any time you want, but you definitely want to meet with your advisor during the two- or three-week period prior to registration. See the Academic Calendar for these dates. Please be sure to schedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

Advisors can help you:

  • explore your interest, values, passions, and goals as well as academic programs at Elmhurst
  • learn degree completion requirements and ways to keep track of them
  • assist with selecting appropriate courses for registration
  • make good use of the College's resources and Centers of distinction
  • learn about academic policies and procedures
  • integrate liberal arts learning with prefessional preparation

While many people stand ready to help, the final responsibility for knowing and meeting graduation requirements and for creating a cohesive educational plan rests with you.
