Callings for the Common Good Studies

U.S. Focus Option

This focus develops students’ knowledge of spiritual and theological groundings for serving "the Common Good" in socio-historical contexts, as well as developing one's own faith-motivated sense of "calling" to professions of service or ministry in a particular cultural context.

As part of the requirements for a minor in Intercultural Studies, the focus in Callings for the Common Good consists of two of the three following courses:

  • REL 281 Serving Society: Faith Perspectives
  • REL 371 South Africa
  • REL 280 Ministry: Callings and Practice
    and
  • ICS 280/380: Intercultural Experiential

Another related course discussed with a Niebuhr Center focus advisor and approved by the Director
