Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) Studies

U.S. Focus Option

The concentration in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Studies (GLBT) engages students in critical analysis of contemporary issues within the intersections of gender and sexuality.

As part of the requirements for a minor in Intercultural Studies, the focus in GLBT Studies requires one or two of the following courses:

  • ICS 390 Special Topics: GLBT Studies (as arranged)
  • ICS 492 Independent Study (queer theory, GLBT histories, etc.)

    OR

One of the following courses, adapted as a GLBT Focus with cooperation of the course instructor and an ICS co-coordinator:

  • PSY 228 Psychology of Women (alternate J-terms only)
  • SOC 305 Sex and Gender in Society
  • THL 331 Christian Ethics and Human Sexuality
  • THL 363 Gender, Sexuality, and Religion (as arranged)


An internship, field experience, or international study may also be developed to fit individual needs.
