Developed-Developing World Relations Studies

International Focus Option

This focus will facilitate your understanding of the complex relationships between the western, industrial, developed states of Europe, North America and parts of Asia, and the largely non-western, non-industrial, developing states of Latin America, Africa and much of Asia.

By selecting courses from a variety of departments, including geography, political science and history, you will explore historical and current aspects of the political, economic, cultural and social relationships between these diverse areas.

As part of the requirements for a minor in Intercultural Studies, this focus requires the following focus courses:

  • GEO 112 Regional Study of the Developing World
  • GEO 317 Regional Study of Latin America

AND one of the following:

  • GEO 375 Geography and International Relations
  • HIS 204 History of the Middle East
  • HIS 305 Imperialism and Colonialism
  • HIS 309 History of Mexico
  • HIS 370 Latin American History: Civilization and Culture
  • POL 302 Politics of Developing Nations
  • POL 303 Politics of the Middle East
  • POL 304 Politics of Latin America
  • POL 306 Politics of International Relations
