Latin American Studies

The Latin American focus within the Intercultural Studies Minor is aimed at developing student understanding of Latin American culture while gaining skills for communicating in the Spanish language.

In addition to the requirements for a minor in Intercultural Studies, the focus in Latin American Studies requires two of the following courses:

  • HIS 170 Latin American History
  • HIS 309 History of Mexico
  • HIS 310 20th Century Revolutionary Latin America
  • SPN 334 Culture of Spanish America (highly recommended)
  • SPN 335 Spanish American Literature I
  • SPN 336 Spanish American Literature II
  • SPN 340 Indigenous Lit South & Central America
