Intercultural Communication Studies

U.S. Focus Option

This focus option is designed to increase students’ knowledge of the process of communication, awareness of the construction of culture and gender through communication, ability to recognize the impact of communication on individuals and society, and appreciation of the connections in the communication discipline and in other disciplines. It also will enhance your critical-thinking skills and preparation for a wide range of professional settings.

As part of the requirements for a minor in Intercultural Studies, the focus in Intecultural Communications requires two of the following courses:

  • COM 218 Nonverbal Communication & Effective Listening
  • COM 312 Small Group Communication
  • COM 315 Intercultural Communication (GLS) (required)
  • COM 318 Gender and Communication
