What You'll Learn

In Elmhurst’s accelerated major in psychology, you’ll examine the content and methods of scientific and applied psychology. You’ll study how people learn, think, perceive, behave, and interact with others in their environment. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the causes and consequences of human behavior.

And that’s just for starters. You’ll also:

  • Master the fundamental theories and principles of psychology
  • Apply psychological theories and research to everyday circumstances such as the workplace and intercultural conflict
  • Examine the relevance of psychological theories to social issues
  • Design research studies with a scientific approach
  • Interpret the results of research studies using statistics and other appropriate methodology 
  • Critically evaluate and express psychological content in written and oral communication
  • Understand the meaning of ethical and professional practice in psychology
