The clinical medical assisting program at Elmhurst College is designed to prepare students to assist physicians by performing a variety of functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office.
Medical assistants with a clinical background work with physician’s offices, clinics, chiropractor’s offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities, among others. They perform such tasks as assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing EKGs (electrocardiograms), obtaining laboratory specimens for testing and educating patients.
