The demand for pharmacy technicians in the United States is expected to grow substantially through 2014 and beyond, thanks to factors such as the continual introduction of new drugs, the national shortage of registered pharmacists and the aging population. According to some estimates, the U.S. will employ approximately 400,000 technicians by the year 2018.
Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings.
