Will My Courses Transfer?

To earn an Elmhurst College degree, all students must complete course work in eleven carefully defined areas:

  • Writing and Reasoning
  • Western Culture
  • Human Behavior
  • Fine Arts
  • The Natural World
  • Literature
  • Global Society
  • People, Power, Politics
  • Judeo-Christian Heritage and Religious Faith
  • The Search for Human Values
  • Inquiry and Issues in Science and Technology

Following is a listing of courses offered at selected Illinois community colleges, which will be accepted in transfer in each general education category. Students complete one course in each category, except Writing and Reasoning and Global Society (if foreign language is chosen) in which two courses are completed.

We encourage you to use this guide as you select your courses. You should also refer to the transfer materials and the Elmhurst College Catalog to gain an understanding of overall course work required to earn an Elmhurst College degree.

Also included are courses for specific majors at selected community colleges. Please click on any of the following for a listing of transferable course for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Please note: The general education curriculum will be changing for students entering Elmhurst College for the Fall 2011 term and beyond.  This guide only applies through the Spring 2011 term.  Please call or email the Office of Admission for more information.
