Applying to Elmhurst as an Adult

Obtain an Application 

  • Request an application now by e-mail
  • Apply online
  • Download an application, complete it, and mail it to us (you'll need a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader)
  • Call (630) 617-3300 or (800) 581-4723
  • Pick one up in person at the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission, Cureton Hall
  • Write the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission, Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Avenue, Elmhurst, Illinois 60126-3296

Apply as an Adult Transfer Student
To apply for transfer admission, submit the following to the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission: 

  • Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended
  • Your high school transcript or GED test results
  • A completed application form
  • An essay or interview is recommended, but not required.

Exceptions:
High school records are not required from transfer applicants who have been out of high school for at least eight years. ACT and SAT scores are not required from transfer applicants who have been out of high school for more than two years and have completed 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) of college credit.

Students applying to the nursing program must submit a high school transcript or GED scores.

Apply as an Adult Freshman
To apply for freshman admission, submit the following to the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission:

  • Your high school transcript or GED test results
  • Your scores on the ACT or SAT (optional)
  • A completed application form
  • A current résumé
  • An essay is required

Exceptions:
ACT or SAT scores are not required from freshman applicants who have been out of high school for more than eight years.

Apply for Non-degree Study
To take courses without seeking admission to a degree program, register at the Office of Registration and Records, in Goebel Hall.

Apply for Teacher Certification
Applicants for Elmhurst's teacher certification program who already have earned a bachelor's degree are considered non-degree seeking. However, such applicants must submit an application for admission and official transcripts from each college or university attended. These are for advising and certification purposes.

Admission Calendar
For Fall Term, apply before August 1. For Spring Term, apply before January 1. For Summer Term, the deadline is May 1.
