Required Courses and Program Length
- Cohort model
- Each course is 0.75 credits (3 semester hours)
- Non-degree certificate program; entirely online format.
Fall Term (16 weeks beginning in August); courses taken concurrently* ISG 100 Programming with ArcObjects GIS 200 Advanced Remote Sensing
Spring Term (16 weeks beginning in February); courses taken concurrently ISG 200 Implementing Geodatabases GIS 300 Capstone: Applications in GIS
*Note: GIS 100, Fundamentals of GIS, may be required to be completed during the eight week summer term based on prior experience in GIS.

Admission Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Prerequisite courses in IS or GIS required or approval of program coordinator
- Students seeking only the GIS Certificate are admitted to the College as “non-degree” students

Academic Expectations Continued enrollment in the GIS Certificate Program and awarding of the certificate is contingent upon the successful completion of each course. Registration for courses may require approval from the GIS program coordinator.

Program Features
- Convenient online format is geared toward adult students and professionals
- Instruction from ESRI-certified GIS instructors
- Course work is aligned with the core guidelines of both the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) Body of Knowledge as well as proposed professional standards of the Urban Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and GIS Certification Institute (GISCI).
- Earn the certificate in less than one calendar year (32 weeks worth of instruction)

- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET as part of Microsoft Alliance (upon request)
- ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 (or current version) including all extensions
