For accelerated students who have been admitted to Elmhurst, here's everything you need to know about getting enrolled and registering for class.
The field of psychology offers a wealth of rewarding career opportunities. In settings ranging from clinics to schools to small businesses, a degree in psychology can be applied to a wide range of professional environments.
Elmhurst’s accelerated program in applied psychology is a degree completion program that provides students with the knowledge and skills required to begin a career in human services or a related field. In this program, you’ll study how people learn, think, perceive, behave and interact with others. You’ll study the methods and content of scientific and applied psychology and how to drive change in today’s society. And you’ll gain valuable first-hand research experience and master the concept of evidence-based treatment.
In an accelerated format, you’ll complete the program on-campus in as little as one year, or you may stretch the program out over two years or more. Many courses are offered in a hybrid format, combining on-campus and online learning, allowing you to earn your degree on a schedule that works for you.
The program leads to a bachelor's degree in applied psychology—for which you will also need to complete certain requirements in the Elmhurst College Integrated Curriculum. Upon earning your bachelor’s degree, some students may choose to continue on to graduate school for further training to become a licensed psychologist, psychotherapist, professional counselor or social worker.
