Online GIS Certificate Program


Faculty members who teach in Elmhurst’s online GIS Certificate Program possess excellent academic credentials as well as experience in the profession. In small classes, these dedicated educators work closely with students on an individual basis.

Richard B. Schultz
Associate Professor of Geography & GIS Program Coordinator
Dr. Schultz specializes in online teaching and learning and geography education. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental geochemistry from the University of Cincinnati. As a full-time faculty member in the Department of Geography & Geosciences, Dr. Schultz is available to students for references on job opportunities and internships in the geospatial community. Karen Robbins
Ms. Robbins teaches GIS 100 and works for the Village of Downers Grove, Illinois. She has an extensive background in technology and GIS applications.

Kevin P. Gibbs
Adjunct Instructor
Mr. Gibbs teaches GIS 300 in the Certificate Program. He received his master of urban planning from the University of Illinois at Chicago where he has been the GIS manager for field research as well as adjunct instructor for graduate GIS studies since 2008. Mr. Gibbs previously practiced GIS with the City of Chicago for more than 10 years as a GIS coordinator.

Linda Krause
Associate Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems and Co-Coordinator of GIS Certificate Program

Ms. Krause holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from IIT and has experience in computer science and programming over a span of 15 years. She teaches ISG 100 and ISG 200 in the Professional Track, as well as in Elmhurst’s online graduate program in computer information systems.

Dean Jensen
Web Application and Information Specialist, Information Services

Dr. Jensen specializes in web design and development, and holds an Ed.D. in higher education and organizational change from Benedictine University. Dr. Jensen teaches ISG 100 and ISG 200 in the GIS Certificate Program. Visit Dr. Jensen’s home page here.

Judy Bock
Ms. Bock teaches GIS 200 and is a graduate of the Elmhurst College GIS Certificate Program. She previously taught middle school in Grayslake, Illinois for 33 years and has been an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Geography & Geosciences for five years. She has an extensive background in technology and GIS applications and has developed educational materials in cooperation with the National Geographic Society and NASA.
