State Rep. Dennis Reboletti to Give ‘Fixing Illinois’ Talk on August 28

As part of Elmhurst College's Fixing Illinois lecture series, State Rep. Dennis Reboletti (R-Elmhurst) will talk about the state's "lost decade" and how to move forward.

A lifelong resident of Elmhurst, Rep. Reboletti is serving his fourth term in the Illinois House of Representatives. His talk, Illinois’ Lost Decade & the Road Back Home, will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information, call (630) 617-3390.

Rep. Reboletti served three terms in the General Assembly representing the 46th House district. Last November, he was elected to serve in the newly drawn 45th House district. He serves on several House committees, including Health Care Availability and Accessibility; Mass Transit; Public Utilities; and Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges.

A former prosecutor with a longtime interest in criminal justice issues, Rep. Reboletti  serves as the Republican spokesperson on the House Judiciary Committee and the Restorative Justice Committee.  He is the sole Republican on the Criminal Procedure & Penalties Subcommittee.

In the 98th General Assembly, Rep. Reboletti was a lead negotiator on concealed carry legislation. He also championed the passage of Andrea’s Law, which established a murderer registry; and filed legislation to reinstate the death penalty. In 2009, he received The Hero Award from the Illinois Victims Organization; and in 2010 he received The Advocacy Award for Juvenile Justice from Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois.

In June, Elmhurst College launched Fixing Illinois: A Great State’s Problems and Promise, with the goal of starting an ongoing discussion about the challenges that Illinois faces, and empowering citizens to help address those challenges and move the state forward.

Previous Fixing Illinois speakers included businessman and gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner, and political commentator Dan Proft.
