| Elmhurst College recently awarded the Rev. Albert W. Buck/Alumni Association Student Award to Ashley Bonk of Berwyn and Kiera Timko of Homewood. The award, established by an initial funding gift from the estate of the Rev. Albert W. Buck ’31, provides funding for educational travel opportunities within the continental United States or abroad.
Ashley Bonk '10, a business administration major with a concentration in general management, plans to travel to Rome in January 2010. “I look forward to widening my knowledge of Rome’s history as well as its culture, social customs, cuisine, religion, and architecture,” said Bonk.
Kiera Timko '10, a geography major concentrating in human geography, will study art and music in India. “I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to travel abroad. I have wanted to go to India since I was young, so this will be a very rewarding experience,” Timko said.
“The study-abroad experience prepares our students to live, work, and compete in the global society,” noted Samantha Kiley, director of alumni relations. “The Alumni Association recognizes the importance of travel, and by way of the Rev. Buck Award, is able to support Elmhurst students in this invaluable endeavor.”
