Job Prospects for Graduates

The U.S. Department of Labor projects strong growth through 2020 in all AGS-related occupations, especially for cartographers, photogrammetrists and geographers. But, according to a 2013 report on the needs of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, skills sets in cartography, photogrammetry and geodesy are in severe demand.

Graduates of the master of science in applied geospatial sciences program at Elmhurst will be proficient in the spatial skill sets required to excel in the geospatial technologies field, giving them a competitive edge in the market. With a curriculum based upon the Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM), which centers specifically on spatial skill sets, Elmhurst graduates will be able to leverage their education to succeed in a wide variety of public and private sectors.

Career opportunities related to applied geospatial sciences include, but are not limited to:

  • Geographers
  • Cartographer
  • Photogrammetrist
  • Architectural and Engineering Managers
  • Engineers
  • Conservation Scientists and Foresters
  • Geographic Information Systems Technicians
  • Geospatial Information Scientists and Technologists
  • City and Regional Planning Aides
  • Geodetic or Land Surveyors
