Journalism
The journalism program at Elmhurst College offers unbeatable opportunities for student reporters, writers, editors, and photographers.
For starters, our student paper is among the most ambitious around. Each year, the staff of The Leader comes home from the convention of the Illinois College Press Association bearing multiple first-place awards.
Alternately serious and sassy, the paper has a reputation for breaking hard news and facing controversy squarely. It’s one of the most independent college papers in the country—students decide everything, learning to make tough calls and stand by their decisions.
When you’re ready for the next level of professional experience, we’ll help you land a great internship at an area media organization. You’ll write stories, make layout decisions, and see your name in print. (You may even get paid!)
Journalism at Elmhurst is open to students of any major. The Leader is primarily a co-curricular activity, supported by faculty advisors with professional journalism experience. Several academic courses are available to hone your journalistic skills as well.
