Elmhurst College offers two graduate-level certificates in computer information systems. Both programs operate entirely online through the Elmhurst College Online Center. Whether you choose to pursue application development or network administration, a certificate from Elmhurst will take you where you want to go.
Application Development Graduate Certificate
Job opportunities for software developers, database administrators and web developers are expected to grow 20 percent to 30 percent by 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A certificate in this dynamic field will prepare you to succeed.
Elmhurst's certificate program in application development uses the existing application development courses from the master's program in CIS, together with a project management and organizational behavior course. Students who complete the five courses for credit will receive an Application Development Graduate Certificate, or they may complete an additional five courses and earn an MCIS degree.
Coursework

If a student chooses to complete the MCIS degree, additional coursework will include:
CS 504, CS 511, CS 545, CS 570 and CS 575.
Network Administration Graduate Certificate
Demand for network and computer systems administrators is high and is expected to grow 28 percent by 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This certificate program combines the existing network administration courses from the MCIS degree with a course in project management. Students who complete the five courses for credit will receive a Network Administration Graduate Certificate, and can complete the additional five courses required to get their MCIS degree.

How to Apply
To apply for either graduate certificate program in CIS, go to the online application and follow the instructions for non-degree students. A bachelor's degree is required for entrance into the program.
If you wish to complete the additional five courses to earn the master's degree in CIS, you must apply for the MCIS program, following all of the admission requirements for the program.
