Alan W. Weiger Associate Professor and Department Chair M.A., Theatre, Design and Technology, Northern Illinois University Professor Weiger’s Ph.D. studies have included educational leadership and policy, and his research interests center on theatre history and theatre technology. As a teacher, his favorite courses include History of Western Theatre, Stagecraft, and Oral Interpretation.
Cheri Carrico Professor Ph.D., Communication Sciences and Disorders, Northwestern University Among the courses Dr. Carrico teaches are Early Childhood Speech and Language Development and Language Problems in Children. Her research interests include the effects of airplane noise on children’s attention and concentration, and feeding abilities of children with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a condition that involves delayed growth and development.
Marjorie Goodban Professor Ph.D. CCC-SLP, Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Illinois, Urbana Among Dr. Goodban’s favorite courses are Stuttering, Multicultural Communication, and Clinical Instruction in Speech-Language Pathology. Her research interests include intercultural communication and fluency disorders.
Victoria Jay Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign Dr. Jay's favorite courses include audiology, the practicum classes in speech-lanuage pathology, and language problems in children. She has special interest in toddlers with language delays and is credentialed in early intervention.
Janice Pohl Assistant Professor MFA, Theatre/Directing, University of Illinois, Urbana Professor Pohl is a director and theatre generalist whose production work includes a focus on costume design and technology. Her research interests include theatre as a liberal art and interdisciplinary work in the humanities. She has also served as director and instructor for young people’s drama programs in Maine and in the Midwest. Courses taught include World Drama, Creative Dramatics, Acting, and Directing.
Rachel Reznik Assistant Professor Ph.D., Communication Studies, Northwestern University Dr. Reznik researches individual and organizational conflict with an emphasis on mental and physical well-being. She teaches several courses including Organizational Communication, Business and Professional Communcation, and Small Group communication.
Deatra Sullivan-Morgan Assistant Professor Ph.D., Rhetorical Criticism, Wayne State University Dr. Sullivan-Morgan’s research interests include communication education and focused study on the effects of the race/gender intersection in relation to human communication patterns. She teaches several courses, including Interpersonal Communication, Multicultural Communication, Ethics and Critical Issues in Communication, Persuasive Communication, and Effective Listening in the Workplace.
Courtney Waite Miller Assistant Professor Ph.D., Communication Studies, Northwestern University Dr. Miller focuses her research on interpersonal communication, specifically conflict in close relationships. She has authored or co-authored several book chapters and journal articles and has presented her research at national and international academic conferences. She teaches a number of courses including Communication Theory, Multicultural Communication, and Organizational Communication.
