As a CSIS student at Elmhurst, you’ll benefit from a high degree of individual attention from world-class scholars, combined with exciting opportunities not usually found at an intimate liberal arts institution.
Students at Elmhurst often are involved in faculty research projects that offer learning experiences in gaming, artificial intelligence, and expert systems that simply are not available to undergraduates at larger institutions. It’s valuable experience that gives you a head start in the job market.
Internships and Mentoring
You’ll gain first-hand experience through internships and field experiences at some of the Chicago area’s leading firms and organizations. Our campus is located near the renowned Argonne and Fermi national laboratories, along suburban Chicago’s technology corridor. Our CSIS students gain valuable experience at national laboratories like Argonne, and at corporations such as McDonald's, IBM, Motorola, the CBOE, gaming companies, and more.
What’s more, members of our special alumni advisory board are available to serve as mentors to current students. The board also serves as an informal alumni network to help students launch their careers.
As a student at Elmhurst, you’ll have the opportunity to join professional associations that give you a head start in the field. As a student member of the Association of Computing Machinery or the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, you’ll attend professional meetings, learn about opportunities to receive grants, and meet professionals in your field of interest.
