What You'll Learn

Designed for individuals who are interested in multimedia and filmmaking, Elmhurst’s accelerated major in digital cinema focuses on the future of narrative storytelling, the realm of digital acquisition, digital manipulation and digital delivery.

The curriculum includes coursework that builds a solid foundation in digital filmmaking. Through examination, application and review, students learn about the core elements of the filmmaking process. Students also complete five courses in information technology, providing the knowledge of basic computing, programming and design that go hand-in-hand with digital cinema.

In this program, you will:

  • Design, code, test and implement a web-based application using Java, Java Servlets, Java Script, HTML and SQL databases.
  • Take a creative idea and fashion it into a script in proper industry format, using standard writing tools and terminology.
  • Make a pre-production plan based on a script, implement that plan into an active production phase, and assemble rough footage into a finished edited presentation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cinematography, lighting and non-linear editing.
