How It Works

As an adult learner, you come to class equipped with knowledge and skills that enable you to learn at an accelerated pace. This program is designed to meet your specific academic and practical needs and is intended for students seeking to complete a first or second bachelor’s degree in the field of digital cinema.

  • The program is offered fully online through the Elmhurst College Online Center.
  • The major includes 10 courses (40 semester hours).
  • You can complete your major courses in as little as two years.
  • Classes are eight weeks in length, and the program is offered within a matrix of course modules that you will complete in a logical sequence.
  • An undergraduate-level certificate in digital cinema is available for students interested in completing only the first five courses of the program.
  • In addition to completing the major requirements, all students must complete the Elmhurst College Integrated Curriculum and elective courses required to earn the degree (32 course credits/128 semester hours).
  • Although you communicate with professors and peers online, every course maintains the Elmhurst high-tech, high-touch spirit. Classes are small, so professors can continue to devote the same high level of personal attention to each and every student.
  • All courses are taught by the faculty of Elmhurst College. Our faculty has extensive hands-on industry experience and stays current with academic research and trends. Our adjunct faculty reinforces the program’s real-world orientation with up-to-the-minute knowledge of business needs and practices.
  • You may be able to earn elective credits for life experience and other non-collegiate learning. (See Alternative Sources for Credit to find out more.)
  • You will work with a faculty advisor, who will take a personal interest in your success as you proceed toward graduation and beyond.

Program Directors reserve the right to admit students under the age of 24 who are qualified to meet the rigorous requirements of an accelerated program.

Technical Requirements
All students in the program must meet the technical requirements for programs in the Elmhurst College Online Center and have a device capable of shooting video, such as a smartphone, pocket video camera, digital camera with video capabilities or camcorder.
