For students who wish to teach children with disabilities, Elmhurst offers a major in special education. The major leads to certification as a Learning Behavior Specialist I and prepares candidates to teach students in kindergarten-high school with the following disabilities: autism, cognitive disability, emotional disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, and specific learning disabilities. If you're interested in teaching young children with disabilities, see Early Childhood Education.
