Minor in English

An English minor is a valuable asset for students preparing for a variety of fields, including teaching in other disciplines, law and business.

Many students minor in English simply because they enjoy the study of literature or writing. This minor may be used to satisfy the area of concentration requirement for elementary education and early childhood education majors for State of Illinois certification.

An English minor consists of a minimum of five courses chosen from the 200, 300, and 400-levels. The minor must include:

• ENG 201 Composition III: Classical Rhetorics and Contemporary Discourses
• ENG 220 Principles of Literary Study
• At least three additional english courses taken at the 300 or 400-level
