» Geography & Geosciences

More than just about any other subject, geography and geosciences explores how the world works—how interactions between people and their physical and cultural environments influence events and conditions, such as migration, environmental damage, national wealth, and war.

In a world that is increasingly connected, at a time when nations, states and even neighbors are struggling over natural resources, geography and geosciences is a particularly dynamic and useful area of study. You’ll learn how physical and cultural environments influence people and vice-versa—a focus that leads to questions about the impact of changing weather patterns, how resources and pollution are identified and managed, and what cities will look like in the future.

At Elmhurst, you’ll work with the same state-of-the-art equipment that you’ll encounter in your career. What’s more, internships capitalize on the College’s prime location by tapping facilities and expertise (and job opportunities) from Chicago-area companies. Geography and geosciences majors often stretch their wings by studying abroad in places such as Jamaica, Russia, Australia, New Zealand and Hawai'i.
