Planned Gifts
Elmhurst gratefully accepts planned gifts, whether the gifts come through your will, a lifetime trust, a gift annuity, or another vehicle. The College will be pleased to work with you on any endowed fund that you would like to create through your estate, such as endowed book funds, scholarships, and faculty chairs.
Individuals who have included the College in their estate plans gain automatic membership in the Meusch Legacy Society.

Bequests via a will can provide substantial tax benefits to a donor's estate. Through a bequest, you may make a gift of cash, securities, or other assets. For more information, please contact Liz Ambrogi at (630) 617-6424.
Through a lifetime trust, you can make a gift to the College and also provide yourself or a loved one with additional income. These trusts include Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, and Pooled Income Funds, all of which provide different tax benefits. Tax benefits also vary depending on your situation. Like a lifetime trust but more straightforward, a gift annuity provides a lifetime income in return for your gift. The amount of your annuity depends on the ages of the beneficiaries. Depending on your age, a gift annuity can provide you with significantly more income than a Certificate of Deposit or savings account. You can make a significant contribution to Elmhurst by irrevocably assigning a life insurance policy to the College. There are two ways to do this:
- Transfer ownership of a current policy to the College. A policy purchased years ago to protect your young family could now provide great benefit to the College.
- Apply for a new policy with the College as owner.
In either case, you can also help the College by continuing to make charitable gifts to us in the amount of the premium payment so that maintaining the policy is not an expense for the College. For more information, please contact Liz Ambrogi at (630) 617-6424.
