Friends of the Arts
The arts play a vital role fostering creativity and expression. The mission of Friends of the Arts is to provide quality cultural experiences that enhance the College's public arts offerings for students and the broader community.
This generous group of Elmhurst College alumni, businesses, and friends contributes annually to help financially support programs such as the Jazz Festival, Summer Extravaganza, Ideas X-Change as well as enhance other College lectures and arts activities. As investments to the community’s cultural life, most of these programs are offered free of charge. When ticket sales do apply, only a fraction of the costs are actually covered.
Over the years, the College has featured an abundance of great talent including Maya Angelou, Gwendolyn Brooks, Michael Redgrave, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patti Austin, John Pizzarelli, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and the Bill Holman Band to name a few.
Additional philanthropic support is necessary to present a variety of inspiring artists, performers, and speakers on campus throughout the year. All gifts are tax-deductible with benefits at varying levels.Donations of $100 or more are recognized in the College's annual report.
To become a Friends of the Arts supporter, please access the secure giving form located at www.elmhurst.edu/giving, or contact April Arnold in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at (630) 617-6190 or aarnold@elmhurst.edu.
"A society that supports the arts and the humanities is not engaging in philanthropic activity so much as it is assuring the conditions of its own flourishing."
