Noices Featured on ABC-7 Healthbeat

At a time when many people aged 60 and older express concern about their declining memory abilities, the research of two Elmhurst College professors offers hope to slow down, or even reverse, the cognitive effects of aging.

Over the last 15 years, Drs. Helga and Tony Noice have demonstrated that the use of techniques used by actors can improve older adults’ cognitive performance. Their cognitive training program, using theatre techniques with older adults, has resulted in statistically confirmed improvement in memory, comprehension, and problem-solving skills, as well as perceived quality of life. Their work has earned them three grants from the National Institutes of Health and continues to receive national media attention.

A segment on the Noices’ research on acting and memory was recently spotlighted on the Healthbeat Report of ABC-7 News. You can watch the clip below.
