Campuswide Drive to Assist Haiti Relief

Through clothing drives, candlelight vigils and creative fundraisers, efforts from across the Elmhurst College campus are under way to raise money and awareness for earthquake victims in Haiti. Here is a list of ongoing and upcoming activities. The list will be updated when new events are scheduled.

Student Nurses Association Raffle
The Student Nurses Association (SNA) will sponsor a fund raising event to support the Haiti nursing Foundation and the FSIL School of Nursing. The group will raffle off a Littmann stethoscope, (provided by Littmann), and welcomes additional donations. FSIL School of Nursing is located in Leogane, Haiti, which is within 10 miles of the epicenter of the earthquake. Leogane suffered a tremendous amount of damage. Fortunately, the school is intact, and the students are safe. On Monday, January 22nd “Save the Children” started erecting a portable 50 bed hospital on the grounds of the nursing school, and students have assisted in providing care for the survivors since the first day of the earthquake.
Thursday, February 11th, 11:15am – 12:30pm in Memorial Hall

“Quenching the Thirst of Haiti"
Bring your loose change to the lobby of the education department and help fill a large water container in this fundraiser held by the department. Education professors also will accept donations during class. At the end of this fundraiser, Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society, the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development will collectively match the total amount given. The Student Leadership Council will decide on an organization to which the contributions will be given.

Student Nursing Association
The Student Nursing Association will sponsor two fundraising activities during the spring semester to support the Haiti Nursing Foundation and the FSIL School of Nursing. The nursing school is located in Leogane, Haiti, which is within 10 miles of the epicenter of the earthquake. Leogane suffered a tremendous amount of damage but fortunately, the school is intact and the students are safe. “Save the Children” has since started erecting a portable, 50-bed hospital on the grounds of the nursing school, and students have assisted in providing care for the survivors. Watch a video of the damage, shot by Tim Bristol, PhD, RN who is currently in Haiti.
Spring Term, up to May 28
