[ Honors Program ]
How It Works
Elmhurst’s Honors Program is open to students in any major who are exceptionally talented and motivated—and it doesn’t require a great deal of extra coursework. First-year and transfer students who are awarded academic scholarships are invited to apply to the Honors Program. Participants are expected to maintain the minimum GPAs dictated by these scholarships.
As an “Honors Program Scholar,” you’ll complete 6.5 units of Honors coursework in addition to the requirements for your major. The first four course units are enhanced Honors Program General Education seminars; one is a January Term elective (which you may take here or abroad); and one is either the Independent Research Project for .5 units or the Honors Capstone Seminar. Outside of class, you’ll enjoy special access to distinguished speakers on campus and travel to events such as the Chicago Humanities Festival.
Or, you can participate as an “Honors Program Member” by taking just three Honors Program units. Either way, we’ll note your Honors participation on your transcript and on your diploma.
