About Internships at Elmhurst
An Elmhurst internship is an excellent way to gain professional confidence and a competitive edge.
As an Elmhurst intern, you’ll take on in-depth, substantive projects at sites ranging from Smith Barney to the Ronald McDonald House to Enterprise Rent-a-Car. You’ll apply what you learn in the classroom to actual workplace issues. You might even earn academic credit for your work.
Students of any major are eligible to take on an internship. Depending on your discipline, you’ll work with your advisor or with Elmhurst’s Center for Professional Excellence to choose an internship that matches your goals and interests.
Internships typically require a time commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week over the course of a semester and result in academic credit. Alternatively, many students take on full-time field experiences during January term.
Internships often lead to job offers—sometimes really cool ones. Take Justin Roman, Class of 2000, who parlayed an internship at a radio station into one of the highest-profile gigs in Chicago radio. Where will your internship take you?
