Applying to Elmhurst as an Adult

Obtain an Application 

  • Request an application now by e-mail
  • Apply online 
  • Download an application, complete it, and mail it to us (you'll need a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader)
  • Call (630) 617-3300 or (800) 581-4723
  • Pick one up in person at the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission, Cureton Hall
  • Write the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission, Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Avenue, Elmhurst, Illinois 60126-3296

Apply as an Adult Transfer Student
To apply for transfer admission, submit the following to the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission: 

All students can strengthen their application for admission by submitting a Goals Statement and current resumé with their application packet. Students whose academic records show promise, but are not as strong as required for admission consideration, will be asked to submit a Goals Statement and resumé for review by the Admission Committee before an admission decision is made.

  • Submit a Goals Statement (1,000 words).
  • Submit a current resumé.

*Students applying to the nursing program must submit a high school transcript or GED scores. Please request an official high school transcript be forwarded to the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission.

Apply as an Adult Freshman
To apply for freshman admission, submit the following to the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission:

  • A completed application for admission.
  • Official high school transcript or GED results.
  • A Goals Statement (1,000 words).
  • A current resumé.
  • Your scores on the ACT or SAT (optional).

Exceptions:
ACT or SAT scores are not required from freshman applicants who have been out of high school for more than eight years.

Apply for Non-degree Study
To take courses without seeking admission to a degree program, register at the Office of Registration and Records, in Goebel Hall.

Apply for Teacher Certification
Applicants for Elmhurst's teacher certification program who already have earned a bachelor's degree are considered non-degree seeking. However, such applicants must submit an application for admission and official transcripts from each college or university attended. These are for advising and certification purposes.

Admission Calendar
For Fall Term, apply before August 1. For Spring Term, apply before January 1. For Summer Term, the deadline is May 1.
