Graduate Certificates in Market Research

Elmhurst College offers two graduate-level certificates in market research. Depending on your marketing skill level and career goals, you may choose to complete either certificate, or both, for credit that may count towards completing your master of market research.

Graduate Certificate in Market Research
Elmhurst's graduate certificate in market research uses the first four existing courses from the master of market research program. Students who complete the four courses for credit will receive the graduate certificate in market research, or they may complete an additional seven courses to earn a master of market research.

The graduate certificate in market research can be completed entirely online through the Elmhurst College Online Center, or you may complete courses in the evening on-campus.

Course Requirements
Four courses are required:

MMR 583 Principles of Market Research with Strategic Application
MMR 584 Use of Social and Digital Media in Research
MMR 585 Marketing Strategy and Research Practicum, Part 1
MMR 586 Marketing Strategy and Research Practicum, Part 2

If a student chooses to complete the master of market research, additional coursework will include: MMR 587, MMR 588, MMR 589, MMR 590 and three electives chosen from any graduate program at Elmhurst.

Students may begin the graduate certificate in market research in fall 2014.

Advanced Graduate Certificate in Market Research
Elmhurst's advanced graduate certificate in market research uses four existing courses from the master of market research program. The advanced certificate is designed for more experienced marketing professionals who want to learn advanced strategies and market research tactics. Students who complete the four courses for credit will receive the advanced graduate certificate in market research, or they may complete an additional seven courses to earn a master of market research.

The graduate certificate in market research is offered entirely online through the Elmhurst College Online Center.

Course Requirements
Four courses are required:

MMR 587 Managing the Research Process
MMR 588 Sampling Techniques for the Advanced Researcher
MMR 589 Data Management and Mining in the Research Process
One elective chosen from any graduate program at Elmhurst

If a student chooses to complete the master of market research, additional coursework will include: MMR 583, MMR 584, MMR 585, MMR 586, MMR 590 and two additional electives chosen from any graduate program at Elmhurst.

Students may begin the advanced graduate certificate in market research in fall 2015.

Prerequisites
Elmhurst’s graduate certificate in market research and advanced graduate certificate in market research programs welcome applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in marketing or a related field. Students must have successfully completed prerequisite coursework: principles of marketing or basic marketing and statistics. The prerequisite courses can be met through the student’s undergraduate coursework or transferred from another college or university. At least two years of professional business experience is required.

To apply, go to the online application and follow the instructions for non-degree students. If you wish to complete the additional seven courses to earn the master of market research, you must apply following all of the admission requirements for the master’s degree program.
