[ Master Plan ]
From Plan to Reality
The realization of the 2007 Campus Plan already is under way. In January 2007, the College broke ground for a sixth residence hall on the west side of campus, behind Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2008, West Hall will house 170 students in a state-of-the-art facility that advances the College’s commitment to the principles of sustainable design.
It is the intention of the College community to implement the balance of the campus plan over the coming decades, as needs become evident and funds become available.
The key to the plan’s ultimate realization can be summarized in a word: philanthropy. As it works to provide for the physical requirements of its academic enterprise, the College seeks the philanthropic support that will enable it to move toward a vision of greater service and effectiveness.
Nothing is more certain than the fact that the College cannot grow in academic quality and social impact without creating a more current, fully realized and functional campus—one that is equipped to support at a higher level the daily learning of today’s students.
This is a challenging time for higher education. It is especially challenging for small colleges like Elmhurst that seek to sustain a prized tradition of powerful learning on a personal scale. The realization of this campus plan will enable the College to meet its challenges and become a more vital force for good—for its students, society, and the world. It will empower the generations still destined to experience the Elmhurst campus to learn more deeply—and to dream more boldly—than their predecessors could imagine.
Thank you for your support of Elmhurst College.
