Professional Experience
A music degree from Elmhurst opens the door to a wealth of careers, because we give you the tools you need. Here's how:
- Internships. Want to work for a record company, a radio station, or a major music festival? You can—while you're still an undergrad. Our students have completed internships with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, radio powerhouse B96, Ravinia Festival, and Universal Records, among others. One student spent his internship writing jingles.
- Studio Experience. As a student here, you'll be able to produce and market your own CDs—or even make some extra cash by producing the work of outside groups. One group of students recently formed its own record-producing company—one of only four such student-run companies in the nation.
- Teaching. If you major in music education, you'll teach in at least two schools before you graduate. You'll even have the chance to teach in Jamaica.
- Valuable Connections. Elmhurst is located in one of the largest media centers in the nation, and our studio teachers are movers and shakers in the industry.
