Musicianship for Children
Musicianship for Children offers a variety of musical experiences for young children. The curriculum is built upon the educational foundations of Orff Schulwerk and Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Music is first presented through songs, movement and improvisation. As ear-training is established, music reading is introduced. Glockenspiel, xylophone, and various unpitched instruments are used, as well as children’s literature and basic dance techniques. Classes are formed by age and musical experience, with an average class size of 10 students. In the Elmhurst College program, students who start in the Musicianship series continue into the Piano Academy.
Please Note: To insure that class size and age/experience requirements are met, the consent of the instructor, Janet Moser, is required for all Musicianship and Piano Academy classes. Completion of the registration form does not guarantee placement.
Demonstrations take place three times per year:
This course of study is for elementary and high school aged children and includes repertoire, technique, movement, ensemble and theory in a multiple-keyboard setting.
