Posted on: January 24, 2007
Elmhurst College will exhibit sculpture and lithographs by internationally respected artist Richard Hunt, from January 30 through February 28. The show is open seven days per week, from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., in the Founders Lounge of the College’s Frick Center. Admission is free.
There will be an appearance by the artist Monday, February 19, from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m.
Hunt has completed more public sculptures than any other artist in the nation. His works are in the collections at the Art Institute of Chicago, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and Washington's National Gallery.
Signature pieces include “Jacob's Ladder” (at the Carter G. Woodson Library, Chicago), “I Have Been to the Mountaintop” (Martin Luther King Memorial, Memphis), “Freeform” (State of Illinois Building, Chicago) and dozens of other pieces at significant centers of government, business and higher education.
As part of this show, Nathan Harpaz, manager and curator at Oakton Community College’s Koehnline Gallery, will deliver a lecture titled “Symbolism in the Sculpture of Richard Hunt” on Tuesday, February 27, from 11:30-12:30 p.m. in the Melanchthon Room of the Frick Center.
