Seyyed Hossein Nasr Delivers Annual al-Ghazali Lecture

At a lecture at Elmhurst College on February 22, Islamic philosopher, poet and scholar Seyyed Hossein Nasr talked about the future and promise of interfaith dialogue.

A professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, Seyyed Hossein Nasr is the author of more than 20 scholarly books and two books of poetry. Nasr, a graduate of MIT and Harvard University, was the first Muslim to  deliver the Gifford Lectures at the University of Edinburgh. In 2000 a volume was devoted to him in the Library of Living Philosophers. For more than 50 years, Nasr's work has focused primarily on Islamic esoterism, Sufism and perennial philosophy.

Nasr's lecture was part of the College's annual al-Ghazali Lecture series—a long and ongoing tradition of interfaith engagement and involvement at Elmhurst College.
