Elmhurst College: Finding Your Calling

Finding Your Calling

The Niebuhr Center was launched in 2002 with a grant from the Lilly Foundation, part of a nationwide effort to encourage college students “to reflect on how their faith commitments are related to their career choices and what it means to be called to lives of service.”

For students at the Niebuhr Center, that process of discovery involves experience, reflection and conversation. The Center connects students with internships, community service opportunities and international study programs. Those experiences help students learn about themselves and the needs of the world around them. That’s the first step on the path to a life of meaning and service.

Below, we introduce you to four students and a recent graduate who worked with the Niebuhr Center to discover their calling. Their stories illustrate how the Niebuhr Center helps students find the path that’s right for them.
