Welcoming Our Senior Friends

Elmhurst College is pleased to announce the creation of a new and exciting program designed to provide intellectually challenging educational and social opportunities for older adults.

Open to those aged 55 and over, Senior Friends of Elmhurst College is a complimentary program intended to bring area retired and semi-retired men and women to the campus community.

“Senior Friends is an opportunity for Elmhurst College to share its resources with senior citizens within our community,” said director of constituency relations, Heather Winter Sobecki. “This program will benefit not only the individuals who join, but the greater College community as well.”

Upon registration as a Senior Friend of Elmhurst College, members will receive a complimentary membership card, which will serve as a personal ID, library card, and ticket to the following benefits:

  • Reduced rates for tickets at the Mill Theatre
  • Admittance to special Senior Friends events and lectures
  • Free admission to most student musical recitals and concerts
  • Advance copies of Applause! – Elmhurst College’s twice-yearly events listing
  • Access to College computer labs
  • Tours of the Barbara A. Kieft Accelerator ArtSpace and the Bates Observatory
  • Use of the College’s Brune Tennis Courts
  • Free admission to Elmhurst College sporting events
  • Reserved seating at Quest and Schade Lectures, and Summer Extravaganza
  • Special pricing on rental of College facilities for meetings, weddings and more
  • Complimentary rides on the College’s inter- and intra-campus shuttle system
  • Authorization to borrow books from the A.C. Buehler Library
  • Individuals 60-years old and older may register for undergraduate courses on a non-degree basis for a reduced fee of $100 per course. (Registration is permitted on a space-available basis, only on the first day of class).
