Greetings from the Larger Community

Two scholars and offered their thoughts on Dr. Ray's Inauguration:

The Rev. Rosemary McCombs Maxey (Muscogee) was the first American Indian woman ordained in the United Church of Christ. She is the interim pastor at the Community of Hope United Church of Christ in Tulsa, Okla. Rev. Maxey is also the director of the Eagle Butte Learning Center, a ministry for the Council for American Indian Ministry, United Church of Christ.

Dr. Stacy Leeds (Cherokee) is a Professor of Law and the Director of the Tribal Law and Government Center at the University of Kansas. She is a member of the Supreme Court for the Kaw Nation of Oklahoma, the Supreme Court of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma, and the Prairie Band Potawatomi District Court. Dr. Leeds is also a former Justice of the Cherokee Nation Supreme Court.
