Explore Your Calling

The Niebuhr Center's Callings for the Common Good is an academic program for Elmhurst College students who are motivated by faith—whatever their religious background or spiritual beliefs. The program guides and supports students in any major who are considering a calling to a service profession or ministry.

Through a wide range of academic and field experiences—including courses, paid internships, and international experiences—you'll explore the links between various callings and the common good, between the values you've chosen to embrace and the profession you're exploring.

The Niebuhr Center is one of the ways in which Elmhurst College lives out its mission of service to society. A college of the United Church of Christ, Elmhurst invites students of many faiths to examine their values and confront moral questions within an open and demanding academic context.

The College stands for personal faith, social justice, and religious freedom. According to our mission statement, this community "affirms the spiritual basis for living a meaningful and purposeful life."

The Niebuhr Center is funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment.
