Pre Nursing HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Exam

The HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Exam is being offered at Elmhurst College on the following dates and times:

(Students can turn in the nursing application prior to taking the test)

Students will take the following three sections of the exam

Reading Comprehension
Provides reading scenarios in order to measure reading comprehension, identifying the main idea, finding meaning of words in context, passage comprehension, making logical inferences, etc.

Time allotment: 50 minutes

Basic Math Skills
Focuses on math skills needed for health care fields, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, household measures, general math facts, etc.
50 items
Time allotment: 50 minutes

Anatomy & Physiology
Provides coverage of general terminology and anatomical structures and systems.
25 items
Time allotment: 25 minutes

Cost is $32. Checks only made out to Elmhurst College. Email Professor Brennan at brennanl@elmhurst.edu to reserve a spot.

A review book is not necessary but students may be interested in the following publication.

Courses
The Admission Assessment Exam Review course was developed based on the Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam and is designed to assist students in preparation for entrance into higher education in a variety of health-related professions. Content contained in this course provides an overview of the subjects tested on the Admission Assessment Exam. Students can use this course as a preparation guide for the exam.

The Admission Assessment Exam Review is written at the high school and beginning college levels and offers the basic knowledge that is necessary for success on the Admission Assessment Exam.

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Physics

The chapters include:

• Conversion tables and practice problems in the Mathematics chapter
• Step-by-step explanations in the Reading and Grammar chapters
• A substantial list of words used in health professions in the Vocabulary chapter
• Rationales and sample questions in the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics chapters
• Helpful terminology in the Anatomy and Physiology chapter

Also included throughout the exam review are "HESI Hint" boxes, designed to offer students a suggestion, an example, or a reminder pertaining to a specific topic.
