Careers in Nursing

Elmhurst graduates have an outstanding success rate with the national licensure examination. Nearly all of our graduates report being employed within 12 months of graduation. Many go on to earn advanced degrees.

Many Elmhurst nursing alumni complete master's programs in nursing and teach at leading schools. They supervise and direct hospital nursing staffs, public health agencies, and home health care agencies. The possibilities are endless.

Graduates are working in a wide range of fields, including:

  • Cardiovascular rehabilitation
  • Home health and mental health care
  • Labor and delivery
  • Surgical intensive care
  • Adult medical-surgical care
  • Public health nursing
  • Industry (i.e., pharmaceutical, insurance)

Your Elmhurst experience will give you the capacity to move readily among nursing specialties and disciplines—including some that have yet to emerge.
