Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to the Nursing Master’s Entry program must meet the requirements listed below:

  • Baccalaureate degree in any field with a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00
  • Completed coursework with a grade of ‘C’ or better: anatomy and physiology (2 semesters), general chemistry, microbiology and at least one course in psychology or sociology
  • College-level oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, email, Internet skills)
  • Interview with the program director (interviews will be conducted after January 1, 2015)

Students from outside the United States must also submit the following:
An official course-by-course evaluation in English by a foreign credentials agency of all university transcripts (along with copies of the transcripts themselves).

Proof of English proficiency, as evidenced by a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based or a minimum score of 106 on the computer-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

How to Apply
To apply for fall 2015, complete the NursingCAS (Nursing Centralized Application Service) application by January 31, 2015. Admission decisions are estimated to be made by March 2015 (subject to change).

To complete your application, go to NursingCAS and complete or submit:

  • The application for admission
  • Official transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended
  • Three letters of recommendation from professors in your discipline
  • A goal statement: a one- to two-page essay describing personal and professional goals and how graduate nursing study at Elmhurst College will enable achievement of those goals
  • A current resumé.

Students may apply to the nursing master's entry program for the Fall Term only. All courses within the program must be completed at Elmhurst College. No transfer credit will be accepted for this program.

Applicants who are registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing should review Elmhurst's master of science in nursing program. Applicants who are registered nurses with a bachelor's degree outside nursing should review Elmhurst's RN–MSN option.
