» Master in Professional Accountancy
The Master in Professional Accountancy program builds on undergraduate accounting knowledge to prepare students in auditing, corporate accounting, governmental accounting, taxation, consulting or management. The program strives to broaden students’ education by integrating technical accounting knowledge with other skills such as communication, the ability to perform research, organize information and integrate knowledge.
The program is designed to help students prepare for and earn the number of credits required to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, and proves useful for those preparing for other professional accounting certifications such as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
The program will prepare you for a position in professional accounting through an understanding of auditing and attestation; financial accounting and reporting for business enterprises, government entities and nonprofit entities; regulations, including taxation, law and professional responsibilities; and business environments and concepts, including business structure, measurement and managerial accounting.
This is a two-year, 10-course program. Classes cover a range of technical accounting skills and issues, as well as other aspects of business. If you completed any of the program’s six core courses as an undergraduate, you may substitute them with electives (with the approval of the MPA director). To ensure that you can apply what you learn right away, we offer internships every term.
You can complete the program on a part-time basis in two years, with evening classes designed to accommodate your busy schedule. You’ll be prepared to step with confidence into a leadership position in your profession.
