Political science majors often enter careers in government, law, business, international affairs, and community service. Many of Elmhurst’s political science majors attain advanced degrees in political science, law, and public administration; many go on to distinguished careers in these fields. One Elmhurst political science graduate, the Hon. William Bauer, currently serves as judge on the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
But the rigor of the political science curriculum can be applied to any career or to daily life: It teaches students to think and write clearly, understand what is behind the headlines, and see how complex societies work. It enables them to be full participants in the processes that affect their lives, from school board elections to congressional campaigns or town meetings.
