Larry A. Braskamp
Executive Vice President
Interim President (effective July 1, 2015)
A trustee emeritus of Elmhurst College, Larry A. Braskamp is renowned for his scholarship on the learning and development of college students. He is a professor emeritus and former provost at Loyola University Chicago and a senior fellow of the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Dr. Braskamp taught and served in administrative positions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received his undergraduate degree from Central College and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa.
Vice President for Finance and Administration
Jim Cunningham provides leadership over the financial management of the College with a focus on stewardship and sound fiscal management. He oversees the financial and human resources operations as well as campus maintenance and security. Before coming to Elmhurst in June 2012, he spent 20 years in the practice of public accounting, most recently as the divisional finance director for The Salvation Army's Chicago Metropolitan Division.
Joseph R. Emmick
Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
Joseph R. Emmick leads the College’s initiative to build philanthropic support and strengthen ties to alumni. He joined Elmhurst in January 2012 after 14 years at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he led record-setting campaigns. During Emmick’s tenure as dean for college advancement, the college recorded its four highest annual fund totals. A comprehensive capital initiative, raised $136 million for scholarships, programs and facilities. Emmick graduated with honors from Wabash in 1992.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
James Kulich informs and leads the College's strategic initiatives. He joined the Elmhurst faculty in 1987 and served as chair of the Department of Mathematics before his appointment in 1997 as special assistant to the president. In 2004 he became executive vice president. A graduate of John Carroll University, he earned master's and doctoral degrees at Northwestern University. He serves as chair of the Advisory Council on Strategic Planning.
Dean of the School for Professional Studies
Tim Ricordati leads the College’s educational initiatives for nontraditional students. With a long career focused on organizational development and operations for educational institutions, Dr. Ricordati has extensive experience in online education. Before joining Elmhurst in 2012, he served in senior faculty and leadership roles at DeVry University and as vice president of administration at American Quality Schools, a Chicago-based not-for-profit educational management company.
Dean of Students
Eileen Sullivan works to foster on the campus a deliberate sense of community, to make it a place where students pursue particular intellectual and personal interests while contributing meaningfully to the good of the whole. She came to Elmhurst in 2007 after prior administrative service at Loras College, Bowling Green State University and Northern Illinois University. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Illinois University and her doctorate from Bowling Green.
Alzada J. Tipton
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty
Alzada Tipton leads a talented faculty that is among the College's most impressive assets. She joined the Elmhurst administration in 2006 after serving twelve years as a faculty member and administrator at Hamline University. She holds a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University and master's and doctoral degrees from Duke University. An associate professor of English at Elmhurst, she has published and presented extensively on Renaissance literature.
James W. Winters
Vice President for Enrollment and Communications
Jim Winters is responsible for developing and implementing plans for identifying, engaging and enrolling the best possible students for Elmhurst. He joined Elmhurst's staff in 1998 and leads the creative and strategic team that produces a wide array of print and electronic media for the College. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he began his career as managing editor of Notre Dame Magazine. He also served in senior creative positions at Chicago magazine and at Lipman Hearne, the nation's largest marketing communications firm serving the not-for-profit sector.
