Major in Theological Studies and Christian Ministry
In today’s world, Christian ministry finds expression in careers and callings across the spectrum of human endeavors—in church-related ministries, health care, social work, law, psychology, education, business, and much more. This program of study is designed for students who want a theological exploration of Christian ministry (in the broadest sense) in relation to discerning their life’s work.
Requirements for the Major Students who major in theological studies and Christian ministry must successfully complete the following six academic courses:
REL 200 Biblical Studies and Contemporary Issues REL 230 Christian Ethics in Modern Society REL 240 World Religions: General Introduction REL 280 Ministry: Callings and Practice REL 320 The Emergence of Christian Thought REL 321 Modern and Contemporary Christian Thought
Two experiential courses (full course credit) of their choice from the department such as internships or international study courses; and the department’s senior capstone course (half course), for a total of at least 8.5 course credits. Experiential courses outside the Department of Religious Studies may be acceptable with the consent of the department chair.
